Geographical location

Its sweet wines come from the towns of Sauternes, Barsac, Preignac, Fargues and Bommes, located on the left bank of the Garonne, about forty kilometers south of Bordeaux.

The varieties

Its grapes are Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle.

They are vinified

They are vinified according to tradition, in small volumes, for 12 to 18 months in vats or barrels, depending on the crus.

The harvest

Its harvest is manual and helps to carefully pick the perfecty over-ripened grapes, by successive selections. It’s an unlikely alliance of nature and men which gave birth to Sauternes.

Every year, the appellation makes a spash with the "Sauternes Wine Festival" which takes place at the end of each Spring!
