The 2016 Wine and Dine Festival in Hong Kong – the Sweet Bordeaux at their best!
The sweet and fruity Bordeaux wines are definitely very popular among Hong Kong people. The wine and food gastronomy festival in Hong Kong, the Wine and Dine Festival, gave, during 27th-30th October 2016, a warm welcome to the Sweet Bordeaux. The tastings are up by 65%.
Hong Kong, more and more Sweet Bordeaux connoisseurs
The Sweet Bordeaux winemakers notice it every year: Hong Kong people, especially the youth, are increasingly interested in the sweet and fruity wines of Bordeaux. During the 4 days of the festival, tastings exploded at the stall run by the Sweet Bordeaux winemakers. More than 15,000 glasses were served there, it’s 65% more than in 2015. A real satisfaction for representatives of the different Sweet Bordeaux appellations. The Sweet Bordeaux stall has been among the busiest of Bordeaux wines.
Sweet Bordeaux in Hong Kong bars and restaurants
Around the Wine and Dine Festival, some Sweet Bordeaux tastings were also organized. More than 200 people were able to discover these wines at events in Hong Kong bars and restaurants, in the presence of the winemakers. This was the case at the Pacific Cigar Divan at the Stan Café at the B.A.M. Le Garde Manger and finally at the Upper Modern Bistro. 4 nights for 4 different atmospheres, to discover the rich aromas of the sweet and fruity white wines of Bordeaux.
Those wines will again be honored in December at the FCC, the famous Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Hong Kong.
The 2016 edition of the Wine and Dine Festival confirmed that the Sweet Bordeaux appellation wines have great potential for development in China. The 10 appellations are Sauternes, Barsac, Cérons, Graves Supérieur, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, Cadillac, Loupiac, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, Côtes de Bordeaux Saint-Macaire and Bordeaux Supérieur.
